Just like Cranial LOOP, Cranial LOOP (L) is an innovative product that has been specifically designed to be universal, artifact-free (in both CT and MRI images) and implantable without any additional instrumentation. Furthermore, Cranial LOOP (L) keeps the same minimum profile philosophy of its predecessor to avoid the risk of damaging the brain and its adjacent structures.

In our line of cranial fixation devices, Cranial LOOP (L) essentially provides a bigger diameter: it presents a 16-mm platform, compared to Cranial LOOP, which counts with the smaller 12-mm platform. This goes along the same lines as similar metallic devices, but with the added value that using a polymeric material provides.

Indeed, the PEEK-OPTIMA^® polymer from which Cranial LOOP (L) is made, in combination with its exclusive double-locking mechanism, guarantees that the bone flap is subjected with similar strength to that produced by metallic non-instrument-free cranial fixation devices.

This unique material further ensures that Cranial LOOP (L) is totally radiolucent, thus avoiding the appearance of artifact in the most usual medical imaging techniques, such as CT scanning and MRI. In addition, the use of PEEK-OPTIMA favors the perfect adaptation of Cranial LOOP (L) to both the epicranial and the epidural surfaces of the skull.

Cranial LOOP (L) is quickly and easily implanted with a simple “pull and tighten” action. This allows the neurosurgeon to completely control the fixation strength. Not only this, but also the self-cutting function of its cable ties facilitates the removal of the non-implantable elements of the device. Thus, the smart design of Cranial LOOP (L) makes it possible that the whole implantation process is carried out with no extra instruments.

The fixation of a standard bone flap with Cranial LOOP (L) is very fast: placing three units of our product takes less than one minute. We recommend using at least one device per side of the craniotomy to obtain a perfect fixation.
